Safeguarding & Child Protection

Kidz Come First Care works with an interagency procedure to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. This is Sandwell Children’s safeguarding board. The safety of children is paramount through effective communication and monitoring.

In response to the Children Act 2004 and the recommendations of the Safeguarding Review 2005, staff at Kidz Come First Care remain committed to practices which protect children and young people from harm; are clear about how to recognise the signs of abuse or neglect; have a full understanding about the thresholds that apply to safeguarding; and know who they should refer concerns or safeguarding issues.

In practice this requires staff to report any concerns for, or allegations about young people. This may mean that at times we have to report our concerns directly to Children’s Social Care, Police or (LADO) Local Authority Designated Officer, Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH). Further investigations might take place if appropriate. Kidz Come First Care has the responsibility to communicate with families during any such process unless it places a young person at risk of significant harm.

Should you at any time feel concerned that a young person may be, has been or could be at risk or abuse – this could be either by noting unexplained bruises or injuries, behavioural changes or by suggestive comments – you must inform line manager/senior on duty and outline your concerns and observations.

The Designated Safeguarding Children’s Officer for the company is Korine Hall 07716 689149 and Natalie Johnson 07492495435, they will be contacted by the homes Safeguarding Officer or the staff member on duty for consultation and agreement on management of all safeguarding concerns.

If there are any safeguarding concerns regarding a member of staff these should be reported to The Local Authorities LADO for Safeguarding in our area 0121 569 4770. This applies to all paid, unpaid, volunteers, casual, agency employees or anyone working in a self-employed capacity.
